Preventing Constipation

Abridged for obvious reasons

The Jiggles

To do the jiggles, place both hands on your abdomen, and then move your abdomen up, down, to the side, and all around. The jiggles are my favorite massage because they’re fun. If you don’t want to embarrass yourself, I suggest you don’t do these in public.

To do the slap, open up your hand and bring it down, in a swift motion, onto your abdomen. When you do the slap, you want to imagine you are gently transferring energy from your palms to your intestines. The energy, like a shock wave, travels from one side of your abdomen to the other. I usually do these when I’m in the shower. I sometimes imagine myself playing the drums on stage in front of all my fans! This exercise helps to wake up the billions of cells in your intestines.

Diet

You may not even need to do Abdominal Massages to prevent constipation if you change your diet to one that includes more fruit, vegetables, beans, whole-grain wheat, and rice.

Water

Water, second to oxygen, is the most important thing you need to support your life, and it may be the most important thing you need to prevent constipation. Common advice says to drink plenty of water to prevent constipation. This is true because it prevents dehydration. The longer you are dehydrated, the longer your body tries to extract every bit of moisture from your stool. This slows down the transit time and turns your stool hard and dry.
